When you think about couples destinations, you think of popular romantic places like sharing a kiss on top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, strolling along the canals of Venice in gondolas or drinking cocktails on the amazing beaches of Hawaii and The Bahamas. Then there’s Fiji. We always hear about Fiji, we see pictures of the island, but do we ever chose to visit Fiji?
In the Summer of 2016, Linda and Charles went to Fiji for their 25th Anniversary. There, they stayed at the The Namale, a boutique luxury resort which was named one of Oprah’s Favorite Things and the Traveler’s Choice Award in luxury in 2012, 2013 & 2014. The resort spans 525 beautiful acres. It includes, 19 private , luxury bures and Villas, two onsite restaurants and 10,000 spa where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Koro sea. The couple stayed at the Honeymoon bure, the Lomani which means “being loved” in the Fijian language.
They purchased the ultimate spa package which included 3 couples massages, one sunset bliss experience for two, one moonlight magic experience for two. The couple also decided to pamper themselves and get manicures at the spa. While receiving manicures, the guest can enjoy the sounds and views of the Kero sea. The private rooms are designed with traditional Fijian decor. Some rooms include the sounds of the oceans or tropical gardens. Not only does the resort want to create a romantic setting, they also want to create the feeling of ease and connection with nature on the island.
For entertainment, the resort offers activities like horseback riding, shopping tours, a sunset cruise and more. The resorts exclusive packages also come with island excursions where you can visit Vanua Levu, and town of Savusavu, known as Fiji’s best kept secret. On the island, couples can go on a hiking tour visit some of Fiji’s picturesque waterfalls or swim in the freshwater swimming pools. They can also learn how to scuba dive and receive scuba diving certifications.
For animals lovers, especially dolphin lovers, there’s a wild dolphin excursion. The dolphins enjoy the sight of boats and love posing for photos. It is a six-hour tour which looks breakfast lunch and dinner even snorkeling!
While the site and relaxation are excellent. There is one thing that can bring a couples together: eating. Earlier it was mentioned that the Namale has two onsite restaurants inspired by the traditional Fiji cuisine all served with beverages like fresh juice, beer, wine a spirits. The culinary staff uses fresh ingredients from organic farms and local seafood markets. Some on the entrees on the menu are fresh fish kabobs, grilled sesame prawns. There’s also dessert like cheesecake and daily made sorbet.
The resort offers private dine-out options for the guest. Some the options include, dining by a seaside cave, on the beach and a waterfall in the rainforest. Before choosing the options the staff members must be notified in advance of any allergies and other diet options. The couple chose a private lunch by the waterfall and a seaside cave dinner for Charles’ birthday.
As we all know good things do come to an end, and it was time for Linda and Charles to travel 5,394 miles back home to Los Angeles. The staff made the whole experience and treated the couple like a family. They cried when it was time for Linda and Charles to go.
When you’re online researching places to visit for your next vacation, think the Namale and the beautiful 19 bures, the 10,000 ft spa with the view Koro seas and its connection to the nature of the fiji island. Think of island excursions caveside dinners and friendly photogenic dolphins!
