Linda: Hey, this is Linda and Charles, with Fun Loving Couples, a global community of committed couples that like to travel, eat well, work out and have fun.
Charles: And today, we are joined by Gabriella Ribeiro. Did I say that correctly? Gabriella Ribeiro?
Gabriella: It’s good, yes you did.
Charles: Outstanding. Look, Gabriella is on our show today because she is a seasoned professional with over thirteen years experience in the travel industry. As you know, travel, eat well, work out, have fun. That’s our first tenet. Gabriella began her career as an advertising/marketing manager, which is near and dear to our heart. Gabriella began her career as an advertising/marketing manager and has extensive knowledge of the Caribbean, Europe, Mexico, and has visited hundreds, if not more, hotels globally. So, to that respect, she’s going to be a huge resource for us. Gabriella has recently launched the 48 Hour Power Jaunt, which I can’t wait to talk about. This is where she plans 48 hour adventures for busy people and entrepreneurs. Like all of us, right? As a single mom who is an avid traveler and entrepreneur, she is proof that you can have the trip of a lifetime in just two days. To me that sounds crazy, but I can’t wait to dig into it. Gabriella is also a frequent blogger, producing online guides, e-newsletters for the globally curious. Probably going to have to steal that title, the globally curious. She delivers insider tips, honest hotel reviews and exclusive deals for her subscribers. I can’t wait to [inaudible 00:02:52]. Gabriella, welcome to the show, thanks so much for being here.
Gabriella: Thank you for having me, it’s good to be here.
Charles: Let’s just jump right in. My first question. Let’s just get right to it.
Gabriella: Shoot. Go for it.
Charles: What makes you so different from all the other travel planners that are out there? Taking nothing away from them, but what is your specialty?
Gabriella: You know, I grew up traveling. My dad was in travel and we used to laugh because we weren’t the normal family. We would complain that we couldn’t go to Disney World because we had to go to Portugal or we had to go to Spain. We would be like “Why can’t we be like normal kids and do things like that?”. So, my parents kind of guided us and I’ve been traveling all my life. I think that what I was fortunate to be able to do was travel like my parents did. They got off of the beaten track. They liked to expose us to different foods, different cultures. In that regard, we learned a really good understanding of the world and a good appreciation and respect for other things that are different than what we’re used to.
So, what we try to do is the same type of experience. Rather than send someone to Italy and just put them on a bus to go see the Colosseum, we want them to get out. We want them to go into someone’s kitchen, cook food. We want them to go out in Tuscany and go truffle hunting and make their own wine and design their own wine label bottle, instead of just going on a tour and sitting and waving as the hills pass by. So, really kind of taking people out of their comfort zone and we like to expose them to amazing and incredible experiences that they may not even know exist. That’s really our specialty. Doing things very, very differently to make sure that they have a journey that really leaves a footprint on their soul when they return.
Linda: Wow. I think I want that Italy trip.
Gabriella: People love it.
Charles: Listen, not that we’re as worldly as you are in your travels, but here’s the one thing I wanted to share with everyone. To go to a different location and not connect with the culture is a huge mistake. Oh my gosh. I mean, again, nice hotels, nice resorts, you want that excitement, that treatment and that experience. But, to not connect with them would be a mistake. So, to me that really is a huge differentiator in terms of what I know other folks do and what I hear you saying that you’re going to do. Here’s another quick setup question, because we believe … So, I’ll just say it again, for those of you who don’t know. We’ve been married 26 years, been together 30 years. You must be deliberate and intentional with adventure in your relationship. If not, it can get stale, you get bored, all kinds of things. But, to, again, go out and adventure in different areas, different locations, and experience the culture. Not that it’s going to fix it, but it changes things. I think it gives you an advantage in your relationship. So, having said that –
Linda: A whole new perspective.
Charles: Absolutely. A whole new perspective, as the boss would say.
